Collection of Personal Data

“Personal data” should be understood to mean any information that can be used to identify a natural person.

The sending by the user of messages, as well as the completion and submission of forms on this site, involves the acquisition of the sender’s contact data necessary to respond or provide the requested services, as well as any personal data included in the communications.

Information about the user is also captured through site navigation, such as IP address and type of browser used.

Navigation data

The computer systems and software procedures used to operate this website acquire, in the course of their normal operation, some personal data whose transmission is implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols. Data disclosed by the User

The optional and voluntary sending of electronic and/or paper communications to the addresses indicated on this site involves the subsequent acquisition of the sender’s address, necessary to respond to requests, as well as any other personal data included in the message.

In addition, personal data (such as first name, last name, email address, postal address) may be provided by the user by filling out the forms on this site: “Write a prayer,” “Receive prayer booklet as a gift,” “Request bookmark with tau,” and “Support the Friars of Assisi with a donation.”

Purpose of processing

Personal data are processed by the Seraphic Province of St. Francis O.F.M. for:

  • Allow navigation on the site;
  • Responding to user requests;
  • Provide services requested by users;
  • To fulfill the legal obligations to which the Seraphic Province of St. Francis O.F.M. is subject;
  • to send informative and promotional communications about events and activities, services and initiatives proposed by the Seraphic Province of St. Francis O.F.M;
  • To ascertain liability in the event of any computer crimes to the detriment of the site.
Legal basis for processing

The processing of personal data by the Seraphic Province of St. Francis O.F.M. is based on the following legal bases:

  • execution of the contract to which the Interested Party is a party or execution of pre-contractual measures taken at its possible request;
  • consent of the Interested Party;
  • Fulfillment of a legal obligation to which the Data Controller is subject;
  • Overriding legitimate interest of the Data Controller, which is to protect its rights in case of computer crimes committed against the site.
Optional or mandatory nature of providing personal data

In order to answer your questions and/or to provide you with what you have requested, the provision of personal data is necessary: without it, the Seraphic Province of St. Francis O.F.M. will not be able to answer you and/or provide the services you have requested.

For the fulfillment of legal obligations, the provision of the requested data is mandatory.

The provision of personal data for informational and promotional purposes is optional, but without it, the Seraphic Province will not be able to inform you about events, courses, initiatives, offers and promotions of the Friars Minor of the Seraphic Province of St. Francis O.F.M.

Method of treatment

The processing of personal data is governed by the principles of fairness, lawfulness and transparency, data minimization and protection of confidentiality. Data are processed both through paper and computer media, using appropriate procedures and tools to ensure their security and confidentiality.

Duration of treatment

Personal data will be processed:

  • until the purpose for which the personal data are processed is achieved. In the case of using the “Write a Prayer” service, the text of the prayer and His name may remain visible on the site until the next feast of St. Francis on October 4;
  • to the extent strictly necessary for the fulfillment of legal obligations to which the Seraphic Province of St. Francis O.F.M. is subject;
  • as long as the legitimate interest of the Seraphic Province of St. Francis O.F.M. in the processing lasts, if the processing is based on it;
  • until consent is revoked, when the processing is based on it (revocation, however, does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out before revocation).
Recipients of personal data

For the above purposes, your personal data may be disclosed to:

  • employees and subjects in any capacity included in the organization of the Seraphic Province of St. Francis O.F.M., limited to what is strictly necessary for the performance of their duties;
  • Subjects, public and private, who can access the data by virtue of provision of law, regulation or EU legislation, within the limits provided by these rules;
  • third parties, to the extent necessary to carry out their duties on behalf of the Seraphic Province of St. Francis O.F.M., appointed where necessary as data processors pursuant to Art. 28 of Reg. EU 2016/679 – GDPR;
  • Any other parties, to whom the current legal and/or contractual regulations provide for an obligation of disclosure;
  • in case of publishing your prayer on this website, through the “Write a Prayer” service, the text of the prayer and your name will be visible to other users of the website.
Transfer of data to countries outside the European Union

Browsing and using the services on this website may involve the transfer of some personal data to countries outside the European Union, through the use of the services of companies used by the Seraphic Province of St. Francis O.F.M. with headquarters and/or operating outside the European Union. These countries may have different data protection regulations than Reg. EU 2016/679 – GDPR and therefore also less protective than European ones (e.g., the absence of a supervisory authority to turn to and the lack of recognition of the rights of the Data Subject). Any transfer of data to countries outside the European Union will take place in accordance with Reg. Rights of the Interested Party

Pursuant to Article 7 and Articles 15 to 22 of Reg. EU no. 2016/679 – GDPR You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data to obtain information about the data processed;
  • Verify the correctness of the data and request that they be corrected or updated;
  • object to the processing of data, on grounds related to your particular situation, when personal data are processed in the public interest, in the exercise of public authority vested in the Controller or in pursuit of a legitimate interest of the Controller. If personal data is processed for direct marketing purposes, you may object to the processing without giving any reasons;
  • Obtain restriction of processing. In this case, the Holder will not process the data for any purpose other than its storage;
  • Obtain the deletion of your personal data, when the conditions specified by law are met (e.g. in case of processing in violation of the law);
  • receive their personal data or have them transferred, where technically possible, to another owner. This right may be exercised when the data are processed by automated means and the processing is based on the consent of the Data Subject, a contract to which the Data Subject is a party or contractual measures related thereto;

It can also file a complaint with the Supervisory Authority (in Italy it is the Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali) under Art. 77 of the GDPR or resort to the judicial authority (Art. 79 of the GDPR).

Il Transito di Francesco

Il Santuario della Porziuncola custodisce, da circa otto secoli, i luoghi della vita di Francesco d’Assisi e del nascente Ordine dei Frati Minori.

La Porziuncola, per volontà dello stesso Francesco, è anche il luogo della morte del santo d’Assisi.

Dimorava allora il Santo nel palazzo del vescovo di Assisi, e pregò i frati di trasportarlo in fretta a Santa Maria della Porziuncola, volendo rendere l’anima a Dio là dove, come abbiamo detto, per la prima volta aveva conosciuto chiaramente la via della verità (FF 507).

Qui la sera del 3 ottobre del 1226 accolse cantando Sorella morte:
Laudato si, mi Signore, per sora nostra Morte corporale,
da la quale nullo omo vivente po’ scampare.
Guai a quelli che morranno ne le peccata mortali!
Beati quelli che troverà ne le tue sanctissime voluntati,
ca la morte seconda no li farrà male (FF 263).

Qui Francesco ha compiuto il suo transito dal tempo all’eternità.

Poi si fece portare il libro dei Vangeli, pregando che gli fosse letto il brano del Vangelo secondo Giovanni, che inizia con le parole: Sei giorni prima della Pasqua, sapendo Gesù ch’era giunta l’ora di passare da questo mondo al Padre (Gv 12,1; 13,1). E dato che presto sarebbe diventato terra e cenere, volle che gli si mettesse indosso il cilicio e venisse cosparso di cenere. E mentre molti frati, di cui era padre e guida, stavano ivi raccolti con riverenza e attendevano il beato «transito» e la benedetta fine, quell’anima santissima si sciolse dalla carne, per salire nell’eterna luce, e il corpo s’addormentò nel Signore. Uno dei suoi frati e discepoli vide l’anima del santissimo padre salire dritta al cielo al di sopra di molte acque; ed era come una stella, grande come la luna, splendente come il sole e trasportata da una candida nuvoletta (FF 511-513).

Si radunò allora una grande quantità di gente, che lodava e glorificava il nome del Signore. Accorse in massa tutta la città di Assisi e si affrettarono pure dalla zona adiacente per vedere le meraviglie, che il Signore aveva manifestato nel suo servo. I figli intanto effondevano in lacrime e sospiri il pio affetto del cuore, addolorati per essere rimasti orfani di tanto padre.

Ma la singolarità del miracolo mutò il pianto in giubilo e il lutto in esplosione di gioia. Vedevano distintamente il corpo del beato padre ornato delle stimmate di Cristo e precisamente nel centro delle mani e dei piedi, non i fori dei chiodi, ma i chiodi stessi formati dalla sua carne, anzi cresciuti con la carne medesima, che mantenevano il colore oscuro proprio del ferro, e il costato destro arrossato di sangue. La sua carne, prima oscura di natura, risplendendo di un intenso candore, preannunziava il premio della beata risurrezione. Infine, le sue membra divennero flessibili e molli, non rigide come avviene nei morti, ma rese simili a quelle di un fanciullo.

Ogni anno il 3 ottobre, verso il tramonto, si celebra solennemente la Commemorazione del Transito del Poverello di Assisi, anche Santo Patrono d’Italia.
